Day 1 – Monday, January 20, 2026 – Fortify the Foundation Before You Build
Summary
It is possible to build something quickly with no regard for the foundation, but over time the lack of a solid foundation will affect the structure above. That is true in a house and it is true in the soul. If the foundation of your faith is weak, the pressure of life will eventually expose it. This season is about fortified foundations, basic principles about Christ that keep you from error and keep you grounded in what actually saves. You cannot leave the discussion of elementary principles unless you actually know them and live from them. Today is a call to slow down and let God strengthen what holds you up, because a fortified foundation protects your future.
Reflection Questions
Where have I been trying to build a spiritual life quickly without strengthening the foundation?
What pressure has exposed weakness in my faith lately?
Do I treat basic principles as essential, or as something I outgrew?
Prayer
Father, forgive me for rushing ahead without strengthening what holds me up. I do not want a faith that looks fine for a season and then collapses under pressure. Make me humble enough to revisit the basics and honest enough to admit what I do not truly understand or live. Guard me from drift, error, and empty religion. Fortify what is underneath my life so what is above my life can stand.
Action Steps
Write down one area where your faith has felt unstable, then write one sentence asking God to fortify the foundation in that area this week.
Write down one thing you learned today about why foundations matter.

Day 2 – Tuesday, January 21, 2026 – Dead Works: Good Things That Cannot Save
Summary
Dead works are anything we do to try to save ourselves, justify ourselves, or clean our own conscience instead of trusting in the finished work of Jesus. Under the old covenant there were sacrifices, rituals, and purity laws that pointed forward like shadows, but they could not make anyone righteous. Later, people also leaned on religious effort like prayer, fasting, and giving as if effort itself could make the conscience clean. Even knowing Scripture can become dead work when the heart stays untouched, lips near God while the heart stays far away. That is why Jesus confronted outside-clean religion and demanded the inside of the cup be cleansed first. The issue is not that these practices are bad, the issue is trusting them in the place of Christ.
Reflection Questions
Where have I relied on spiritual activity to soothe my conscience instead of trusting Christ?
What good practice have I quietly turned into a substitute for faith?
If God examined the inside of the cup, what would He find that needs cleansing?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, expose dead works in me, even the ones that look impressive or feel responsible. I do not want to hide behind activity while my heart stays unchanged. Cleanse the inside of the cup. Pull me away from performance and into living faith that trusts You fully. Teach me to practice good works as fruit, not as a foundation for righteousness.
Action Steps
Write down one habit you sometimes treat like it earns God’s favor, then write a sentence rejecting that mindset and choosing faith in Christ instead.

Day 3 – Wednesday, January 22, 2026 – Why God Does Not Ignore Sin: Justice, Mercy, and Holiness
Summary
A loving God does not ignore sin because God cannot deny Himself. He is loving, but He is also holy, righteous, and true, and He does not contradict His own nature. Sin is not harmless, it destroys and wounds and oppresses, and the wages of sin is death. If sin were ignored, victims receive no justice, evil faces no accounting, and righteousness loses all meaning. Forgiveness without justice becomes moral chaos, and forgiveness without transformation changes nothing inside the sinner. Heaven will be holy, a place where righteousness dwells, so sin must be dealt with and guilt must be removed. That is why righteousness is not a religious detail, it is required for real relationship with God.
Reflection Questions
Where do I minimize sin because I want comfort more than truth?
Do I want forgiveness without transformation, and what am I afraid to surrender?
What does my conscience reveal about my need for righteousness before God?
Prayer
Father, teach me to take sin seriously without falling into despair. Thank You that You are both just and merciful, holy and gracious. Remove my guilt the right way, through Jesus, not through denial or pretending. Make me hate what destroys and love what is pure. Give me a hunger for righteousness that is deeper than my hunger to feel comfortable.
Action Steps
Write down one area where you have been excusing sin, then write one reason holiness matters for your life and your future.

Day 4 – Thursday, January 23, 2026 – Repentance: A Real Turn, Not a Religious Feeling
Summary
Repentance is more than feeling bad, it is a change of mind and heart that turns your inner disposition and results in a changed life. It is responding to the pull of God instead of ignoring it. Repentance turns from dead works and turns toward Christ to receive righteousness, because only faith in His death, burial, and resurrection saves. This is why Jesus called sinners to repentance and warned that without repentance people perish. The apostles kept the message clear: repent and be converted, that sins may be blotted out. Repentance includes real honesty, real confession, and a real change of direction. It is not earning salvation, it is agreeing with God and turning to the only Savior.
Reflection Questions
Have I treated repentance as emotion, or as a turning that changes direction?
Where am I still clinging to dead works to feel clean or secure?
What is one area God has been pulling me to turn from that I have delayed?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I do not want a shallow repentance that fades when the moment passes. Give me godly sorrow that leads to real change, not just regret. Help me agree with You about sin and agree with You about the cross. I turn from self-justification and I turn to You. Teach me to walk in repentance as a living posture, quick to confess, quick to turn, and quick to obey.
Action Steps
Write down one sentence confessing your need for Christ, then write one specific turning you will make today.

Acts 3:19
Isaiah 55:7
Luke 13:3
Day 5 – Fruits Worthy of Repentance: Walk in Newness of Life
Summary
After repentance, the question becomes simple and serious: how then shall we live. Grace does not give permission to continue in sin, and Romans 6 answers that with a clear “Certainly not.” “Walk in newness of life” means a real change in direction, not just a new label. Sin is slavery, and whoever commits sin is a slave of sin, so returning to it is never harmless. The call is to reckon yourself dead to sin, to stop presenting yourself to sin as if it still owns you. Instead, present yourself to righteousness and let it become your master, directing your choices regardless of how you feel. You may slip, but slippage is not your identity when you bow the knee and keep walking forward. Repentance is not a moment, it is a life that keeps turning back to Christ.
Reflection Questions
Where have I been using grace as an excuse to stay comfortable with sin?
What persistent sin keeps trying to control me, and what would it look like to submit to righteousness instead?
When I fail, do I run to Christ quickly or hide in shame?
Prayer
Father, thank You that grace forgives and grace teaches. Train me to deny ungodliness and to live soberly, righteously, and godly. Give me strength to stop presenting myself to sin and to start presenting myself to righteousness. When I slip, keep me from despair, but do not let me make peace with what Jesus died to free me from. Make holiness real in me, not performative, and make obedience steady, not occasional.
Action Steps
Write down one sin pattern you need to stop feeding, then write one righteous practice you will obey today in its place.

Romans 6:1–2
Romans 6:4
John 8:34
Day 6 – Saturday, January 25, 2026 – Build on the Rock: Repentance That Holds Under Pressure
Summary
A wise man builds on the rock, and when the storms come the foundation holds. Repentance is part of that rock-solid foundation because it keeps the heart honest, the conscience clean, and the direction clear. It also keeps you from treating sin like a toy, something you can “check out again” without consequence. The pull of old patterns is real, but Christ offers real freedom, and if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. A fortified foundation does not mean a life without temptation, it means a life that stands when temptation hits. It means you do not just hear truth, you do something with it, you turn and you walk in newness of life. Tonight is also a moment to prepare your heart for worship tomorrow, because what you do on Saturday often decides the posture you bring on Sunday.
Reflection Questions
What storm or pressure tends to reveal cracks in my spiritual foundation?
Where am I most tempted to toy with sin instead of turning from it?
What can I do tonight to come into Sunday ready to receive and respond?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I want a foundation that holds. Strengthen what is weak in me and expose what is unstable. Thank You for real freedom and real mercy. Keep me from returning to slavery and calling it harmless. Make me quick to repent, quick to obey, and quick to rebuild anything that has cracked. Prepare my heart for worship tomorrow with humility, hunger, and readiness.
Action Steps
Write down one pressure point where you tend to compromise, then write one boundary you will put in place today to build on the rock.
