CRITIC- “a person who expresses an unfavorable opinion of something; a person who judges, evaluates, or criticizes”. From the Greek “krinein” meaning to “judge or decide”. From critic we get the word “critical”, meaning “hypercritical, faultfinding, captious, carping, censorious mean inclined to look for and point out faults and defects.” Interesting. Thus a critic or a critical person is one who looks for and points out faults and defects in others. Lots of these critics floating around social media- probably because they are not bold enough to call you up and set a meeting to speak to you face to face.

Or in most cases, they don’t even know you. I write a daily for 10 years now. You’re currently reading one. These are snippets of a certain theme or Biblical concept. I get up early and read my Bible and begin praying and asking the Lord to direct me to write on a certain topic.
Obviously, (it seems obvious to me), that I cannot write everything about that topic in such a short manner neither can I write on every subject in the Bible. That’s ridiculous. But here comes the critics, finding fault with me. They don’t like what I said or how I said it. Or maybe they were convicted on something and instead of owning the conviction, they lash out. Mind you, they don’t me, they have never even had a conversation with me or sat down over a cup of coffee. Yet somehow they can determine my motives from my writing? Seems legit.
Faultfinding is a characteristic of the prideful and arrogant man. It stems from self righteousness and is a sign of the times- when lawlessness abounds, love grows cold. Perhaps you have been at the end of the critic? Don’t let those faultfinding arrows enter your heart. Love seeks the best. Pray for those who are critical of you. Now, maybe you are the critical one? Are you always looking at others through a microscope and yourself through rose-colored glasses?
Do you look for imperfections and defects instead of looking for the gold? Do you seek first to understand? Most critics do not. They just blow you down with their critical words. If you have a problem with someone or in my case with something I have written, send a private message, or call them up and ask, “What did you mean by that?” Perhaps they can further explain. You are never allowed to judge one’s motives. Fruit- yes. Motives-no. Ask questions. Get to know someone’s heart. Repent for your critical spirit. And for my critics, go write your own books and your own dailies instead of criticizing mine.

These people are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.” Jude 14-16
