THE ONLY ONE QUALIFIED to ever throw a stone, didn’t.
“He that is without sin, cast the first stone”.
A lot of people know this Scripture and use it as a means to say, “Don’t judge me!” The above scripture is not directly addressing sin. Jesus is addressing those who are casting stones at a woman caught in adultery while they themselves have sin in their own lives. Jesus then addresses the woman, “Go your way and sin no more.” Now, He addresses her sin. We are allowed to address another’s sin in a manner in which to turn them from sin to righteousness. We are never allowed to judge one’s motives, so be warned when you condemn someone based off your false accusations of why you think they did something. Shame on you. However, you are allowed to judge another’s fruit. You are also your brother’s keeper and should always want a sinner to repent from their destructive ways. Help a brother out of his fleshly prison!
“Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.” James 5:19-20
But in the scripture concerning the woman caught in adultery, that’s not what Jesus was addressing. He was confronting people’s self-righteousness. You are not allowed to CONDEMN another for their sin. Address it, yes. Lead them to repent, yes. Speak truth, yes. Don’t lie to people and placate them in their sin- this is not love. But condemn and throw stones? No. What right do you have O foolish and vain man? You are not without sin. Who are you that condemns another and do the same things, operating under the same fleshly spirit?
How are you going to throw a stone at someone who mistreated you when you yourself know that you have mistreated others? How are you going to hold anything against anyone when you know the evil deeds of your past and what you have been saved, delivered and forgiven from? The parable of the unjust servant comes to mind. Excuse my frankness, but who do you think you are? You hypocrite. First take the plank out of your own eye. Or maybe you don’t have gross sin like I did, so you can’t see yourself clearly; but your self righteousness and your pride stink to high heaven. Self righteousness is a huge plank.
“Who say, ‘Keep to yourself, Do not come near me, For I am holier than you!’ These are smoke in My nostrils, A fire that burns all the day.” Isaiah 65:5
Repent of your pride before His anger is turned on you. Such were some of you.
