Monday, May 4th – He Didn’t Improve It. He Replaced It
Summary
Jesus did not come to tweak the old system or make small adjustments to religion. In Christ, everything changed. We are not working through a system anymore. We are brought into a relationship. The difference is the same as a marriage built on love versus one built on obligation. One survives. The other thrives. The question is whether you are living in what Christ already finished. The new covenant is not about maintaining access to God. It is about living in the access that has already been secured.
Scripture to Read
Hebrews 8:1–6
Hebrews 10:1–4
2 Corinthians 5:17
Reflection
Are you relating to God more like a system or a relationship right now?
Where in your life are you still acting like something needs to be earned instead of received?
Prayer
Holy Lord, I confess that I often slip back into thinking I have to earn what You have already given. I treat You like a system instead of a Savior. Please help me to see clearly that You did not improve the old way. You replaced it. Lord God, please teach me to live in what You finished. Please change how I approach You, not out of obligation but out of desire. Let my relationship with You be real, not routine. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
Action
Take a moment to gently reflect on one area of your life where you may feel like you have to “earn” something from God. Write it down honestly. Then, beside it, write the truth of what Christ has already done for you in that area, and let that truth bring you peace.
Tuesday, May 5th-We Have What They Never Had
Summary
We have access to God and still choose disinterest. We have the Son. We don’t need a process to get near to God because God has already come near to us. Israel understood that His presence was everything. They longed for what we casually forget or ignore. We show up when we want, participate when we feel like it, and call that devotion. But commitment reveals what we actually want. If we truly desire God, it would show. We are not here to consume a service. We are here to encounter the Savior.
Scripture to Read
Hebrews 8:1–2
John 4:24
Exodus 33:15
Reflection
What might your level of engagement in worship reveal about what you value or desire most?
What what attitude do you come to go with?
Prayer
Lord God, forgive me for taking Your presence lightly. Holy Jesus, I have access to You and still act uninterested. Please, Heavenly Father, stir something in me that desires You above everything else. Please let my worship be engaged, not passive. Holy Lord, help me to come to You for You, not just for outcomes. Please open my eyes to the privilege I have and lead me to respond with hunger. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
Action
Take a moment to think about what you are truly seeking when you come to God, and write it down honestly. Then, choose one simple way you can intentionally seek His presence today and follow through with it.
Wednesday, May 6th – A Better Covenant That Actually Finished It
Summary
The blood of animals could cover sin temporarily, but it could not remove it. Jesus did what the old system never could: one sacrifice, one time, for all time. This changes everything about how we live. We are returning to what has already been secured. Christ is not going back to the cross—the work is finished. The problem is that we often forget to walk in it. Many still live as though they are trying to complete something that Christ has already completed. But the new covenant is built on better promises because it actually works. It doesn’t just manage sin; it removes it and keeps us reconciled.
Scripture to Read
Hebrews 8:6
Hebrews 10:4
1 Timothy 2:5
Reflection
When you become aware of sin, what is your first response—do you turn back to God’s grace, or try to fix things on your own first?
How are you finding rest in what Christ has finished in your life?
Prayer
Holy Jesus, thank You that Your work is finished. Thank You, Lord, that I don’t have to strive to earn forgiveness because You have already secured it. Please, Abba Father, help me stop living like it still depends on me. Please, Holy Lord, teach me to return to Your grace quickly and confidently. Please let my life reflect trust in what You have completed, not fear that I have to complete it. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
Action
Take a moment to reflect on what you usually do after you become aware of sin, and write it down honestly. Then, write what it might look like for you to gently turn back to God’s forgiveness instead.
Thursday, May 7th – A New Heart, Not Just New Rules
Summary
The power of the new covenant is not that the rules got easier, but that the heart has been changed. God promised not only to command righteousness but to create it within us. This means transformation starts internally, not externally. You begin to want what God wants. Even in places you cannot see, God is working. A changed heart will eventually produce a changed life. This is where the shift happens. You are not being forced into obedience; you are being formed into it. As this week moves forward, this matters even more. What God is doing inside of you is meant to show up in how you live, how you respond, and how you prepare for what He wants to do next.
Scripture to Read
Hebrews 8:10
Ezekiel 36:26–27
Galatians 2:20
Reflection
In what ways do you notice any ways God may be shaping your desires, not just your outward actions?
Prayer
Lord God, thank You that You are changing me from the inside out. Thank You, Holy Lord, that I don’t have to manufacture righteousness because You are forming it in me. Please, Lord, help me recognize Your work in my heart. Please soften anything in me that resists You. Heavenly Father, please teach me to cooperate with what You are doing, even when it is uncomfortable. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
Action
Take a moment to reflect on one area where you’ve noticed your desires shifting since following Christ, and write it down. Then, spend a moment thanking God for that sign of growth and transformation in your life.
Friday, May 8th – A New Identity and Real Mercy
Summary
The new covenant does not just give you a new heart; it gives you a new identity. You are not who you used to be. What you have done may still be remembered by people, but it is not held against you by God. When He sees you, He sees a new creation. And this only matters because of mercy. Mercy is powerful because judgment is real. This is mercy: the fact that we have not been judged is not because our sin is small, but because God is merciful. And that mercy is not temporary; it is rooted in what Christ accomplished. He remembers your sins no more, not because they were insignificant, but because they were fully paid for.
Scripture to Read
Hebrews 10:17–18
1 John 1:9
1 Peter 2:9–10
Reflection
What does God say about you now opposed to what is in your past?
How much does God love you?
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for mercy that I did not deserve. Thank You, Heavenly Father, that You do not hold my past against me. Please, Lord God, help me stop identifying with who I was and start living as who You say I am. Please let the reality of Your mercy humble me and change me. Please, Holy Lord, teach me to walk in freedom, not guilt. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
Action
Take a gentle moment to notice one unhelpful thought or belief you may have about your identity, and write it down. Then, write a truth from Scripture that reminds you who God says you are instead.
Saturday, May 9th – The Relationship Produces the Life
Summary
Relationship now produces activity. You are not worshipping to get saved; you are worshipping because you have been saved. This is the difference between obligation and transformation. If there is no desire to worship, serve, give, or love, it reveals something deeper about the heart. The issue is not behavior first; it is relationship. And this is where preparation matters. As we move toward Sunday, this is not about forcing ourselves into spiritual activity; it is about aligning our heart with what God has already done. If the relationship is real, the life will follow. So examine your heart honestly, not to condemn yourself, but to prepare yourself. Because gathering with God’s people is not about routine; it is about responding to a real relationship.
Scripture to Read
Romans 8:14
Colossians 1:27
Galatians 5:16
Reflection
What about being a Christian do you enjoy?
What about coming together with the body of Christ do you enjoy?
Prayer
Lord God, I don’t want to fake spiritual activity. I want it to flow from a real relationship with You. Please, Heavenly Father, search my heart and show me what is true. Please prepare me for tomorrow. Please, Lord God, give me a desire to gather, to worship, and to respond to You. Let my life reflect what You have done in me. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
Action
Take a moment to write down one simple way you can intentionally prepare your heart for church tomorrow.
Sunday, May 10th – Has It Actually Changed You?
Summary
Everything changed when Christ established the new covenant. The system is gone. The access is open. The heart is transformed. The identity is new. The mercy is real. The only question left is this: has it changed you? If the new covenant is real in your life, it will show. Today is not about attending a service out of habit; it is about responding to what God has done. You are not coming to consume something; you are coming to encounter Someone. The same access you have all week is present as you gather with His people. So come ready, come engaged, come expectant, because the relationship you have with God is meant to be lived, not observed. And today is an opportunity to step into that more fully.
Scripture to Read
Hebrews 8:13
2 Corinthians 3:6
Romans 7:6
Reflection
When you think about how your life has been affected by God’s new covenant? What comes to mind?
Prayer
Lord God, I don’t want to just know truth. I want to be changed by it. As I come today, please prepare my heart to encounter You. Heavenly Father, please remove distraction, apathy, and routine. Let me respond fully to what You have done in my life, Holy God. Please continue to change me, not just in what I do, but in who I am. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
Action
During church today, notice one thing that stands out to you—something that feels meaningful or personal. Gently write it down, and consider one simple way you can respond to it this week.
