Monday, April 20th-When the System Isn’t Enough
Summary
The writer of Hebrews asks a direct question that exposes everything. If the old system could actually make people complete, why would God replace it? That question still remains today. It is possible to do everything right within a system and still not be made right before God. The law, the routines, the structure were never designed to perfect anyone. They revealed the need for something greater. The danger is not the system itself, but the tendency to trust in the process instead of the One who established it. Summary
Jesus confronted people who were doing all the right things externally while missing the heart of God completely. That warning still stands. It is possible to attend, sing, give, listen, and still be distant. Activity around God is not the same as being near God. That is a hard truth, but it is a necessary one. The issue has never been effort alone. It has always been an alignment of the heart. When activity replaces intimacy, faith becomes hollow even if it looks strong on the outside. God has never been after performance. He has always been after people who walk with Him in truth.

Every person lives under some form of priesthood. For many, it is self. Making decisions, justifying actions, carrying guilt, and staying in control. A life apart from God becomes a priesthood of self. The call of the gospel is not an improvement of that system. It is a replacement.
