I DO NOT CARE HOW GOOD OF FOOD you are serving up; if you treat me rudely. I not going back and I’m definitely telling all my friends to not go to your establishment. I really don’t care how good of service you provide, if you make me feel “less than” and talk down to me, I am not going to be a returning costumer.
There’s far too many other places I can go that are serving up good food with kindness. Get the picture? How you treat people matters. They don’t care how good of a cook you are, people want to be treated respectfully, especially if you call yourself a Christian. What I’ve noticed is that a lot of Christians treat the world kindly, but their brothers and sisters in Christ badly. I don’t get it. My brethren, these things should not be.
“So then, while we [as individual believers] have the opportunity, let us do good to all people [not only being helpful, but also doing that which promotes their spiritual well-being], and especially [be a blessing] to those of the household of faith (born-again believers).” Galatians 6:10
We are to have a deeper love and affection for those in Christ. After all, these are the people you will spend eternity with. Probably should find a way to love them, even the ones you don’t necessarily like. The world is supposed to know us by how we love the brethren (those who are in Christ), how we treat our brothers/sisters in Christ. Then the world would see that we are different and they would want what we have.
Why would they want to be devoured and treated rudely? They can get that from the world. Here’s what you do, if you’re having difficulty with another Christian, ask to see them like Jesus sees them. Bless them and their family. Swallow your pride and seek reconciliation. Stop gossiping and speaking negative about them, instead speak life over them. Change your mind about them and the words of your mouth will match up.
Here’s something I have learned: do not take to heart what someone else has said about me. In the church, you have all kinds of people. Some born again, some not yet, and all in varying degrees of the sanctification process. You’re not going to escape a slant, slander, gossip, an offense, being overlooked, or feeling left out. But you can choose how you deal with such things.
The following is one of my favorite Christian quotes: “Brother, if any man thinks ill of you, do not be angry with him; for you are worse than he thinks you to be. If he charges you falsely on some point, yet be satisfied, for if he knew you better he might change the accusation, and you would be no gainer by the correction. If you have your moral portrait painted, and it is ugly, be satisfied; for it only needs a few blacker touches, and it would be still nearer the truth.”
Charles Spurgeon
“Also do not take to heart everything people say, Lest you hear your servant cursing you.
For many times, also, your own heart has known That even you have cursed others.” Ecc 7:21-22
Put out your pride. There’s no room for pride in the body of Christ. Love seeks the best for your brethren, not your own desires.
