- Be Like Noah.
- Do you model your life after someone? Are there people you look up to? there’s people who excel we can learn from. The bible is full of them. Noah is one of these great men of the faith.
- Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
- We can learn about about life by paying attention to Noah. I want you to be like Noah.
- Noah was different
- When you’re looking at Noah you can see there is a contrast between him and the other people around him
- NOAH: 9 Noah was a just man, [f]perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God
- OTHERS: 11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.
- You can see between the two. One is a just man, one is a corrupt man. They are not the same, the people who walk with God are just and those who don’t are corrupt. They are broken.
- Walking With God Sets You Apart and has always set you apart. Noah was different
- Ex 33:16 For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.
- Jesus said this to his followers- John 15:18–19 If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
When you walk with God, you’re different, and that’s ok. There’s going to be contrast. - Its been that way from the beginning.. Bible people have always been different
- Numbers 14:24 But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.
- When you have a different spirit you have a different calling and that different calling comes with benefits and inheritances that the rest of the world will not experience. Like Noah
- This was the reason Noah was chosen and set apart. He was different. He wasn’t like everyone else and so he didn’t do and get what everyone else got and did. He got the plan, the ark, the saving and the close relationship w/ God. There’s contrast between those who walk and don’t.
- God’s Presence Distinguishes You from those around you. When God is with you. Different.
- Exodus 33:14 And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
I’m sure the people during that time probably noticed something different about Noah, not just that he was building a boat, but people who walk with God have a different anointing.
- I’ve seen it in my own life. Many times I’ve met people and asked them if they were Christians right on the spot. My tree cutter– right when I met him. We hugged on the spot.
- When you’re walking with God there is a Visible Transformation to the World
- This is why I question peoples salvation that have no visible fruit in their lives to show that they’ve met the savior. There’s been countless people I’ve met through my life that said they were saved, that their countenance was to the contrary. Not like me- but something. Anything
- Mat5:14–16 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden… Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Where’s the shine? Where’s the light? - Here’s the other part of being like Noah
- Noah had covenant
- 18 But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark—you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you.
- Some people don’t understand covenant. They understand contract, but not covenant. Covenant is that there is a lifelong blood agreement that cannot be broken without death.
- When God says to Noah- I’m going to establish a covenant with you, this means something.
- Now I don’t want to take too much from the future preaching, but the covenant was this
- Parties of the covenant: God, Noah, all humanity, and every living creature.
- Type of covenant: Unconditional, everlasting, universal.
- God’s Promises of the covenant: Never again destroy all life by flood. Maintain order and seasons on earth. Bless humanity to be fruitful and multiply.
- Human Resp. of the cov: Respect life no eating blood, no shedding innocent blood. Rule creation under God’s authority. Sign:Rainbow God’s visible reminder of mercy after judgment.
- So this is the covenant that Noah entered into with God, and many of those same precepts we still have with God. His covenant with us, through Noah is unconditional, everlasting and universal. We can’t break this covenant. His mercy still remains to this day.
- He’s never going to destroy all life by a flood, he maintains seasons, he blesses our work.
- If we’re going to be like Noah, we walk with God in a Covenant Relationship
- Deu 7:9 know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.
- This mindset, of the unwavering commitment to serve God in a covenant relationship can revolutionize your walk with God. Be like Noah. Have a covenant with God.
- I still think there’s people who are still trying to figure it out, who are trying it out until
- And I’ve seen lots come through here. They’ll go hard and fast for a minute, and flame out.
- Friend, Make a decision to enter into a covenant w God through Jesus and never waver.
- I want this blessing Jer 32:38–40 They shall be My people, and I will be their God; then I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children after them. And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me.
- I love walking with God, and these promises have been in my life and can be in yours as well
- He has been my God, given me a new heart, I still love and fear him, and it is good for me.
- He has not turned away from me and has not dealt with me the way that I was supposed to.
- And because of this fear, I cant walk away! I know its real, I want to be like Noah in COVENANT
- Covenant Walk Is Rooted in the Heart Deuteronomy 10:12–13 And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes which I command you today for your good?
Isn’t that everything? Fear the Lord, walk in his ways, love him, serve him with all your soul, keep the commandments FOR YOUR GOOD
- Its all for our Good. We shouldn’t be so concerned about any aspect of what God asks of us.
- Its all good for us. Every single time. When we walk like Noah in Covenant, it works.
- Now as Christians, we walk in the The New Covenant Walking with God Through Christ
- He 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
- Now, through Christ Jesus we walk in the Noahic covenant and experience new blessings above and beyond the blessings enacted through Noah we experience Blessing, Protection, and Identity in Christ. We live under the NEW covenant in Christ, but same auspices.
- I truly believe those who are in covenant w Christ get a different life than those who are not.
- Romans 8:16–17 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.
- We talked about this on Sunday, its huge for the child of God to walk as a heir of him
- My DIL-. I’ve engrafted her into my house. She doesn’t have to ask anymore. It all belongs to her
- When God said- Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
I believe it. The covenant relationship promises it and receive it in Jesus name! - Because of this Covenant Noah had with God
- Noah was Obedient
- God told him what to do 14 Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch.
- And it says he did it- 22 Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.
- When you say you’re in covenant with the Lord- this Covenant Relationship Is Marked by Obedience and Faithfulness to the demands of the covenant. Doesn’t God keep his end?
- God said this to the Israelite Ex 19:5 therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.
- This is true of Noah and true of us as well- Walking with God Requires Obedience
- Obedience isn’t a dirty word. It’s a bible word. I’m obedient to my wife, my kids, my friends, my career, the precepts of health and fitness and finances and friendship. Be like Noah- Obedience
- To be obedient is to do the right things that produce the correct results based on truth
- 1 Kings 2:3 And keep the charge of the Lord your God: to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn.
- And its true. I prosper and you prosper because of our obedience. Its not the act of obedience that produces the prosperity, its walking the truthfulness of the precepts of God that naturally produces the prosperity based on his covenant promises.
- God doesn’t make people love you because you love them, his demand is to love people and the natural byproduct of being a loving person is that it returns back to you.
- When you do things the God way you get the God results. Noah Got what God promised!
- Here’s what Obedience Does- Obedience Is the Expression of Love
- John 14:15 If you love Me, keep My commandments.
- John 15:10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
- 1 John 2:3–6 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
- Noah loved God. He loved righteousness. How could he not be obedient? Be like Noah
- And here’s the deal- we only think of his obedience in building the ark, but what was his obedience like BEFORE building the ark that God would look down on him and say- this is the person I want to save and use as an example for the rest of time. Would he say that of YOU?
- This is what obedience does- Obedience Separates the Righteous from the Rebellious
- People who choose to not be obedient are rebellious, plain and simple. Period.
- Isaiah 1:19–20 If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
- Obedient eat the good of the land disobedient are devoured by the sword
- Why do disobedient rebellious people insist that they are entitled to the same blessings as the obedient? Not just spiritually, but physically, vocationally, financially, etc. WHY you’re rebellious
- People who are obedient get Blessing and Fellowship. They get natural outcomes of obedience
- When we walk with God we get the blessings. Of God. Noah walked Noah Got the blessing
- James 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
- We started with this verse- I want to land the plane with it.
- Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
- This is what Hebrews says about Noah and the ways we should walk like him
- We should have Faith: Noah trusted God’s warning about a coming flood, even though it had never happened before (“things not yet seen”).
- Walking in faith is walking the way of Noah. We trust the warnings of Scripture.
- We should have Obedience: His faith was active he built the ark in obedience to God’s word.
- If Gods word tells you to do something you do it. You don’t argue you comply. We obey
- We should have Reverence: His actions were motivated by “godly fear,” meaning reverence and respect for God’s authority. Noah feared God, so he took the things of God seriously.
- Live in healthy fear of God. Take the things of God seriously. Have some reverence
- We will experience Salvation: His obedience resulted in the saving of his family.
- If you walk with God, chances are your family will do the same, you’ll be saved and your family
- You will live differently like noah- His faith and obedience “condemned the world,” meaning his righteous actions exposed the unbelief of others.
- In the end it was Righteousness by faith: He is called “heir of the righteousness which is according to faith,” showing that righteousness before God has always come through faith, even before the law or Christ’s coming. SOOO be like Noah. Different, Covenant, Obedience.
