WHEN THE ENEMY COMES, what do you do? We have a battle plan from the Lord:
“You will not need to fight in this battle.
Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.” And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem bowed before the Lord, worshiping the Lord.” II Chronicles 20:17-18
“Fear not: take your stand, and see the salvation of the Lord,” was the command of Moses to Israel at the Red Sea, just before the Great Deliverance. (Exodus 14:13) Same words, different set of circumstances, same promise.
Are there battles that you have to fight? Most assuredly. We fight the battle against our flesh and our mind, taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. This is warfare language. You must be an active participant in crucifying your thought life. Uncontrolled thoughts will destroy you. The flesh must not be allowed to run amok.
We are also in a spiritual battle, wrestling against spiritual wickednmess in high places. Take command of the enemy. You have authority over him, but you must be an active participant in this battle as well. Your prayers and the words of your mouth have power to destroy. Come into agreement with God’s Word and bring down strongholds in the mighty name of Jesus. You cannot continue to live a life of sin, otherwise a worse thing will come upon you. You should also be aware that you will reap what you sow. However, when you have been faithful and have cried out to Him for help; He has a plan.
There are battles that are not yours to fight. If you read the previous verses, God’s people did not know what to do, so they petitioned the Lord for help. Cry out to Him for help. Ask and keep on asking. He will answer. When people come against you, talk bad about you, cause division, or bring false charges against; position yourself and do not fear. When the enemy comes in like a flood to destroy everything in its path, do not worry. When circumstances are piled high to destroy you, dear saint, do not fret. When your business is taking a downturn, you receive a bad report from the doctor, the bills are due and you cannot see your next paycheck; cry out to Him for help.
When you have done all He asks of you, then position yourself and stand still. And see (expect) the victory. This is important. He wants you to expect that He will do what He says He will do. Envision or “see” the victory. Position yourself in faith. This is His battle, not yours. You are to stand on the firm foundation of Jesus and BELIEVE HIM. This is the position God wants you to take up. Trust Him for the victory. You are to stand firm and watch the Lord do whatever He needs to do to win a battle. Nothing is too hard for Him. Stand still means set yourself firmly and present yourself as if ready to engage; and keep your ground, hold firmly to your faith in God’s Word and do not give in at all. Do not be double minded!
You have asked. He has answered. Expect that God will move on your behalf. The Lord wants you to expect Him to do great things for you. He wants you to watch with an attitude of faith to see how He will come through on your behalf. This battle is His, and He takes it personally when the enemy comes against His children. The enemy done messed with the wrong people. Stand and watch the Lord deliver! He is mighty to save.
Lastly, praise Him before the victory is won. Praise brings down walls. Praise lifts Him up and sets the atmosphere for a victory. Praise gets your mind of you and your problems and unto the God of miraculous deliverance.
