Love That Obeyed to Save
Summary:
At Christmas, we often celebrate the birth of Jesus without considering why He came. Hebrews 5 reminds us that His coming was not sentimental. It was purposeful. Jesus came to obey the Father, to suffer, and to save. His love was not expressed through words or feelings, but through obedience that carried Him all the way to the cross. He did not become Savior through progress or effort. He always was the eternal Son who willingly entered our world to accomplish salvation for us. Christmas is not about admiration. It is about reception. Christ’s obedience secured what we could never achieve. Today is an invitation to move beyond familiarity with Jesus and receive Him fully as Savior and Lord.

Day 2 Monday
Love That Sacrificed Fully
Summary:
Hebrews tells us that Jesus offered prayers with cries and tears during the days of His flesh. God did not visit humanity. God entered it. Jesus felt pain, faced suffering, and entered death fully. The baby in the manger was always moving toward the cross. His sacrifice was not symbolic. It was real, costly, and necessary. Love that saves always costs something. His sacrificial love now calls us to a response. Disciples do not merely admire Jesus. They imitate Him. Following Christ means learning to live sacrificially in practical, tangible ways that reflect His love for others.

Love That Obeyed Through Suffering
Summary:
Hebrews says Jesus learned obedience through suffering, not because He was ever disobedient, but because His obedience was proven under pressure. Obedience was not a ladder He climbed to become divine. It was the expression of who He already was. Jesus obeyed because He loved the Father. Obedience is not the price of salvation. It is the evidence of it. This challenges a cultural version of faith that says, “Jesus did everything, so I do nothing.” Biblical faith responds. Obedience flows naturally from love that has already been received.

Love That Rests and Gathers (Christmas Eve)
Summary:
The storms of last week forced many of us into rest. Plans stopped. Schedules cleared. Rest is not wasted time. It prepares the heart to obey. Tonight, Christmas Eve reminds us that Jesus came not to add to our exhaustion, but to rescue us from it. Gathering together to worship is not routine. It is response. We come to remember that salvation has been accomplished and that Christ is worthy of our attention, gratitude, and worship.

Love That Is Received (Christmas Day)
Summary:
Christmas Day invites us to rest in what Christ has done. Salvation is not earned through effort or performance. Jesus became flesh so we could be reconciled to God. His love is a gift, not a reward. Today is not about striving to prove devotion, but about receiving the grace that has already been given.

Day 6 Friday
Love That Is Eternal
Summary:
Jesus is the author of eternal salvation. His love did not begin when you did, and it does not end when you fail. Eternal love does not excuse sin, but it never stops pursuing the sinner. Some resist Christ because of fear, misunderstanding, or believing they do not have what it takes. The truth is, none of us do. Salvation is sustained by His strength, not ours.

Have you believed there is an expiration date on God’s love for you?

Father, thank You for loving me with an everlasting love.
Action Item:
Release any fear that tells you God has stopped loving you.

Day 7 Saturday
Love That Is Perfect and Ongoing
Summary:
Jesus is our eternal King-Priest. His priesthood is unchangeable and uninterrupted. He alone stands in the gap for us. Because He continues forever, our salvation is secure. His perfect love now empowers us to love others the same way. Love does not wait to be invited. Love moves first. If anyone should love deeply and consistently, it should be those who have been loved perfectly by Christ.

Jesus, help me walk in the love You have shown me.

Reach out to someone intentionally and show Christ’s love.
