It Will Happen

1. It will happen- A promise unfulfilled is still a promise

• Today we see the Exodus of the Israelites from the bondage of the Egyptians
• It’s a glorious day! The day of redemption and deliverance from what they asked for! 
• Promise of Exodus 6:6 Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am the Lord; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.
• This promise was spoken to them hundreds of years before, we read it in minutes. 
• The problem with a promise unfulfilled is that when you are in the waiting, it feels like it is never going to happen. But the truth is that a promise unfulfilled is still a promise!
• Rom 8:18-25 READ 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.
• This story of the Israelites is the story that we are in now, awaiting the deliverance from this earth. Some of us may not see it. That’s ok. Hundreds of years of Israel didn’t see it. 
• You may not have any earthly promises unfulfilled, but there are heavenly ones that haven’t 
• And as Christians, we eagerly away the day when we exit this earth and leave!
• Philippians 1:23 For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.
• But that promise hasn’t been fulfilled! We’re still here. We still have to live on this earth. 
• You need to get your mind wrapped around the reality that if a promise of scripture hasn’t happened yet, it doesn’t mean that God’s word isn’t true and that it wont happen. 
• 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 READ For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
• There is much that you do not see that God is working on your behalf for your future glory that you must trust and believe that the promise will come to pass. 
• Put yourself into the camp of Israel- 430 years. Generations upon generations. 
• Humans are humans. People lose heart, they feel like giving up and stopping belief. 
• A conversation between parents and children- and then the kids become adults and die and now you’ve got grandparents that were kids and 100s of years have passed still holding on. 
• That’s a long time! America is only 250 years old! Another 200 years to go!
• Here’s what you do- You have to hold onto hope. You just have to. 
• Romans 15:13 – “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
• This is how you hold onto promises
• One Repeat the promises to yourself and others. Keep talking about it
• Two- Shut down doubt and negative emotions- You’re going through it anyway. Suck it up
• Thee- Say in Joy and expectancy. It will happen in due season. 
• Philippians 1:6 – “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”
• HE WILL COMPLETE IT. Hear my heart on this. He will! He will! 
• Our church is in a great season- possibly the best season. God promised us that it would happen, but its taken a good 20 years. We’re in a great place. But it took a while to get here. 
• Our whole spiritual life is a hope of the future. We wont see our resurrection until the last day. 
• John 6:54 – “Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”
• But I believe it. I know he will. But I’m not going to see that for a very long time. 
  

2. It will happen- God’s timing is not your timing

• 40 Now the sojourn of the children of Israel who lived in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years. 41 And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years—on that very same day—it came to pass that all the armies of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt.
• The frustration of unfulfilled promises is directly correlated to the timing of it. 
• When you don’t have to wait for something, there is no expectancy or waiting, you don’t care about time. (Going to see Obama- Straight in the door- no waiting- some not get in)
• Waiting is where timelines come into your hope center and begin to work you over. 
• 1 Thessalonians 5:1 – “But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you.”
• Even in Bible times, there were issues with timelines apparently. People wanted to know when
• Habakkuk 2:3 – “For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.”
• God has a cosmic timeline that we are not aware of. 
• You’ll notice that many of the Christian cults and weirdos of our faith always want to figure out timelines and dates because they hate waiting. They want definitive answers. 
• I get it! I want those as well! As a child I was a very impatient young man. I was fine with waiting, as long as it was right now. Think about the great things of life you waited for and then realized that God did it right at the right time. That if it had happened at any other time it would not have worked. God always knows what He’s doing. 
• Ecclesiastes 3:1 – “To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:”
• There is a cosmic time that you do not understand and that’s ok. That’s why they call it faith. 
• Psalm 27:14 – “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!”
• If you’re just waiting, you wont make it- Wait ON THE LORD. If you’re praying, reading and believing, he will strengthen your heart. He will. You’ll have supernatural strength. 
• Galatians 6:9 – “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
• Let your prayer be-  Psalm 31:15 – “My times are in Your hand; Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, And from those who persecute me.”
• Speak that to God and others. My times are in God’s hands. Don’t let people pressure you to do things outside of God’s timeline. Its your walk with God- he will do it in his timeline No rush. 
• Psalm 37:7 – “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.”
• YOU DO NOT WANT TO GET AHEAD OF GOD
• Specifically with jobs, relationships, finances etc. You get ahead of God, things will not end well
• Jobs they shouldn’t have taken, mariages shouldn’t have happened, investments shouldn’t have done. Often, its because you get ahead of God. We need to take action, but waiting is OK
• 2 Peter 3:8 – “But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”
• Quit worrying about the timeline. Israel waited and it all worked out. You’ll be fine.
