NEWS FLASH! You can actually pray for someone and have nothing to do with them at the same time. Mind blown. This might be a shocker to some, but in order to walk righteously and work righteousness; you have to separate. Even the Lord separated His own and created boundaries. “When the Most High divided their inheritance to the nations, When He separated the sons of Adam, He set the boundaries of the peoples According to the number of the children of Israel.” Deuteronomy 32:8
If God created separation and boundaries, then we need boundaries in our own life. The sanctity of your soul depends on it. There must be a separation from certain things and people. The man of God is to despise what is evil, the doctrine that corrupts, even the unrepentant person spreading heresy. The psalmists records what the godly man looks like:“Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill? He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart; He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; In whose eyes a vile person is despised, But he honors those who fear the Lord; He who swears to his own hurt and does not change;”Psalms 15:1-4 NKJV
Your heart should break when someone is lost or falls away, and you are to pray for them and do whatever is in your power to restore them; but if they continue on the path of destruction you are to have nothing to do with them. I don’t care if they are blood related family. I have seen people fall away from the Lord because of a rebellious child living in sin.
Parents cannot take the assault from other people for choosing the Lord’s way. And so they cave and give in to tolerating sin. As Paul writes to the church in Ephesus, “Have nothing to do with the unfruitful works of darkness”. This includes those in your immediate family. Go read what happened to Eli because of his wicked sons. What’s even more damning, is when a person in a position of authority falls away from the faith and touts false doctrine. They are held to a greater standard and more is required of them because they have influence over the masses.
Here’s the REAL question: where is your allegiance? Do you honor God’s Word and His ways above all else? Or are you so consumed with worldly things that you honor unrighteousness under the guise of “love”? Do you lack courage? Many are more afraid of offending people than offending a holy God. You better be careful. There are strict warnings in Scripture for tolerating Jezebel. “The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keeps his way preserves his soul.” Proverbs 16:17#runyourrace
