ONE OF THE MARKS of the end time will be a rise of prideful men and women. They will be scoffers and mockers and yes, even (or in America’s case, mostly) amongst those claiming to be a follower of the Lord. These will be finger-pointers and accusers. These self-righteous people will look at themselves through rose-colored glasses and put you under a microscope.
This is a very common phenomenon in today’s culture, just follow a preacher of righteousness on social media and you will see the visceral responses. They will accuse you of wrong-doing and will refuse to take responsibility for their own actions. “It’s your fault!” is a sign of the times.
I’ve been falsely accused so many times I cannot count anymore, and I’ll bear it because that’s what He’s called me to. But for you, you need to own your stuff and stop playing the blame game. It’s pride and self-righteous pride will destroy your life and separate you from His goodness.
The Lord showed me this Psalm years ago, “LORD, my heart is not haughty, Nor my eyes lofty. Neither do I concern myself with great matters, Nor with things too profound for me.” Psalms 131:1 This is a Psalm of the humble. The mark of humility is to mind your own business, keep your eyes on your own field and do your own work. The humble woman (or man) keeps her mouth and does not concern herself with what others are doing.
Yesterday in Bible study, we discussed putting a guard over the mouth. This means that no unauthorized words leak out of the mouth. When you accuse the innocent of wrong-doing, you are in essence accusing yourself and bringing destruction. God takes the words you say and write very, very seriously. “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:36-37
The humble is concerned only with those things the Lord has given her. The humble is not an accuser, she knows her place. She takes the lower seat and refuses to eat with the wicked. The humble has no room to take offense because she has a revelation of her own sins and wickedness apart from Christ, therefore lives in His forgiveness. The humble looks at herself soberly, through the lens of the Spirit. The humble believes the best of everyone, she refuses to believe lies and slanderous talk. She knows that she will stand before Jesus alone and give an account. She’s not in competition with anyone. The humble is too busy running her race. #RunYourRace
