YOU REMOVED YOURSELF from my life. I had someone once tell me, “You don’t want me in your life!” When that wasn’t the truth- they didn’t want to be in my life (because I set a boundary) and they removed themselves, yet blamed me. Let me let you in on a little thing I’ve learned, people hate it when you set boundaries. I lived at the same address for 17 years and have had the same phone number just as long. We moved in 2020, but everyone knows how to find me and where to find me.
All my info is public knowledge. I’m on social media and I’ve blocked a few crazy people on FB, other than that you can send me a message or an email. You can find me every other morning at the gym or in my neighborhood running. I’m at church every Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday, and various days in between. My family’s lives revolves around my church family. As the old man said to the old woman, “I’m still driving the truck and you used to sit next to me, you moved.”
I am not the one who moved. I never acted differently towards this person, their heart changed when I told them what I was willing/and not willing to do. They wanted me to partake in things that the Lord has cleansed from my life and I refused. If you are not careful, someone’s opinion of you will disable you from running your race.
“The fear of man (fear of another’s opinion of you) brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.” Proverbs 29:25
This is what happens when you set boundaries with some people. This person told me that I didn’t care for them because I would not go to the bar with them. If I loved them, I would do what they wanted me to do. This is nonsense. It is a manipulative, demonic spirit. Doing what someone wants you to do is not love. Is this a familiar story in your life? I strive by grace to live a life of constancy and not allow other’s opinions or thoughts of me to change who God called me to be or to act. I can’t get caught up in your offense. If you don’t like me, it’s none of my business. I’m not moving from my course. I love the Lord and my relationship with Him is more important than what someone thinks about me or any earthly relationship.
““For the Lord GOD will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced; Therefore I have set My face like a flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed.” Isaiah 50:7
Friend, stay the course and do not let others move you. Someone’s opinion of you is none of your business. Please recognize that manipulation is spiritual witchcraft. By grace, live a constant and disciplined life. Don’t get caught up in drama. People do not like it when you set boundaries. If you need to apologize for something, then apologize; but stand firm on your convictions. Always be kind. You have a race to run until the end and there is only One you will give an account to. And despite what others have told you, God sets boundaries so it’s good and right to set boundaries.
“You have set a boundary that they may not pass over, That they may not return to cover the earth.” Psalms 104:9
