DO YOU UNDERSTAND what the Lord is doing? Yeah, me neither. But this is faith, I believe when I don’t see. I trust when I don’t understand. This is where so many get it wrong, they want to bring God down to human level. God says He is love, and man makes Him into our kind of fleshly love as the Greek god of sensual desires Eros. God says He is just and man makes Him into our own carnal mind of justice. In the days of Nehemiah, after they rebuilt the wall; the congregation stood, confessed their sins, and read from the book of the law, they proclaimed:
“However You are just in all that has befallen us; For You have dealt faithfully, But we have done wickedly.” Nehemiah 9:33
Recognize your own sin when you are corrected. Examine your own heart when you reap what you sow. God isn’t a man that He should lie. His ways are not our ways and His thoughts our not our thoughts. Make no mistake, God had a good plan for Israel. However, it was after 70 years of captivity. God is just. Scripture also declares that it rains on the just and the unjust.
Some things just happen because we live in a sinful world. We are not meant to understand everything. Read that again. This is faith, that we trust God in the midst of our not understanding and not seeing. This is why it’s imperative that you know His Word. His will is found in His Word. His ways and character are found in His Word. His promises and warnings are found in His Word. Don’t say, “God told me to do this” when it’s completely contrary to His Word and His character. He’s not in that. He’s not in your ways.
“Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’” Isaiah 46:9-10
Be careful that you are not found to be a liar. Trust God in the midst of the valley you’re walking though. Get rid of your prideful ways. Pride will hinder the grace of God in your life. If you are always the victim and never the villain; pride has filled your heart. God will upend your plan because His is better. Let Him have His way. You aren’t meant to understand; just know His ways are good and He knows your beginning and your end. If you cannot trust Him in the land of plenty, what will you do when the floods of destruction come? Better get this right. Disbelief and disobedience are two sides of the same coin and these both will cause the Spirit to be quenched in your life. Trust in Him, trust His plan and trust the process.
