About our Pastors

Greetings in the Name of the Lord.

Thank you for taking the time to explore our church’s website. Hopefully you have found enough information to help you in your adventure in finding a Christian community to call home.  If I can personally be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to call the church office.

I have always been reluctant to have a page on our website about me, because I challenge the notion that a church is about a pastor.   When I was in high school, I met a man who was from another country who told me something I would never forget. He said, “My country is so different from the US. In my country our advertisements for church have pictures of Jesus, in your country they have pictures of the Pastor”.

I’ve never forgot that statement, and in some way it describes my hope for Faith and Victory.  This church is not about Crystal and I. This church is about helping people grow in their relationship with God, and other believers.  We do not want to be the focal point of the church. We want Jesus to be the focal point.

That being said, I know that people who are web-surfers typically want to know a bit about the pastor before attending church, so here goes. I was born and raised in Seattle Washington, and graduated from Ballard High School.  I was raised a Lutheran and I got saved at a United Methodist Church Camp at 15 years old. I spent my high school and college years in Foursquare, AG, Calvary Fellowships, Independent and Non Denominational Churches. My undergraduate degree is from Seattle Pacific University and my graduate degree is from American Christian College in Oklahoma City, OK.

After college,  I served in the US Army for 6 years as a Mental Health Counselor and was deployed to Bosnia and Egypt.  My wife and I Crystal have been married since 1998, have 2 wonderful children.  Crystal and I planted this church with 2 other families in June of 2003. Since that time, we have seen the church grow, our ministry strengthened and people get saved and delivered through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Some may ask why another church? In the Northwest, there is no doubt that we need more churches. Church is a place where you can meet God, fellowship with other believers and learn more about the Bible.  We feel called to this city, to these people to this time.  We are not concerned with denominationalism, we are concerned with the people who have not yet been introduced to God.

If you are reading this, more than likely you are looking for somewhat of a spiritual connection. Since you’ve spent this much time reading this, you should come on Sunday and meet the great people who worship God at Faith and Victory Church.  You’ll be glad you did!

See you Sunday!

Matt and Crystal.
